Balloons Make People SMILE!

This year for my Balloons Around the World Event I changed it up and did some different things!!!

First, this year I invited my son Jack to join in so when I made over 250 balloon creations from over 500 balloons for the 1 in 9 Think Pink/ Green Walk, he came along to meet and Greet the 1000 people walking for a cause! Herschel was there also to give Jack a hand!

My friend Debbie (from Virginia Beach) was in the City on a Business trip, Herschel and I went in to say hello

and have dinner together. Yum,yum, yum... and of course there was some Balloon Art for an after dinner twist!

The waitress got a glow Rose and Debbie got the Fairy to bring home to her daughter Abby. I hope it made it in one piece! If not here is a photo of it for Abby.

The after-Jam took place at The Baldwin Coach Diner, they liked us so much they asked us if we wanted to come back again sometime????? Did we ever??? So we now have a NEW Jam location (since our RVC spot is under construction).

Here are some NYC photo moments I wanted to share with you...

Anything to do with NYC and the Statue of Liberty, plus flags, shirts, hats... for SALE everywhere within 10 blocks of Battery Park!

We also went by Ground Zero.

Can you see the windmill behind the Taxi?

Holland was by the old Customs House! (the foot of Broadway)

Now get this one... You stand with the Statue with a flag and a pose, you have the photo taken on your OWN camera and still pay the guy $5.00! There are 5 of them in a row right by the line to get on the boat to see the Statue!

I grabbed a shot for this blog and then rushed away, the guy wanted me to pay and I didn't even know the people!

What kind of racket is this???

By the dock where people boarded the Ferry to The Statue of Liberty.

NOW! This is ART! Some guy takes an idea to another level! This Artist takes a set of cloths and paints them with some silver paint, Climbs on top of a metal tubular object, plays music and strikes some Poses like a Statue. He also takes tips! He also lets people take Free photos with him... I just took a photo of him alone and He Got a Tip from ME!

He set up right by the Bull! Location, location, location!!!

So the thing is to touch the Bull for GOOD LUCK!

It was photographed from all sides and every angle!

Yes from the BACK side also!!! Maybe even BETTER LUCK to

touch his... well you get the picture right?

Jack Ash Visits the Lido Beach Summer Program

Herschel's water Adventure

After breaking both his elbows about 3 years ago, (a story for another time) he is finally able to use his folding Kayak again. His first test to see if it was still seaworthy!

Trip was a success but both ends got banged up .

The boat also got scraped here (stern) coming into shore and on and off the car!

We applied Aqua Seal then adhesive and a patch as seen in later photo.

Before Repair on the Bow that got damaged coming into waters edge.

This was the harder repair / after it was Aqua Sealed.

Repair patch ready to adhere to the boat.

This adhesive is really hard to remove from your hands USE GLOVES!

Here it is the repaired stern, with a Hypalon patch.

Here is the Bow it was a harder curve to make

but with clamps it held together great!

Hope it is water tight? We will update you at next test!

This NEW product is great on the Hull of the boat.

Belle visits Village Hall!

This was taken at the Tuesday night Show at The Cedarhurst Village Green. I did a Show with friendship as the theme, The audience gasped when they saw how Beautiful Belle turned out as I put her together. She is now living in Village Hall with the Mayor and all the staff!

I was in the Oceanside Senior Center the other day when I caught a quick glance

of what looked like ace bandages in a plastic bag.

They were not! She got them from her son when he came in from South Carolina.

They were really big marsh mellows, I put a packet of sweet & low, and the can of soda in the photo to show the size, hope it helps you.

Herschel and I spent some time Sunday at The Long Island Maritime Museum. They were having a Boat show, and many exhibits, food and music... what could be bad?

I will post many more from this event real soon, as you can see I used a sepia tone on this one!

These 2 Lucky Ladies attended the "Cupcakes and Cocktails" Gala fundraiser event at The Long Island Children's Museum Friday night. They also scored a Balloon sculpture to take home from The Great Wandini!

Willie started off with a short history of his Entertainment Styles. Then lectured with some examples using video, photos and live performance. He spoke about a book he wrote with a friend and shared some of the most creative ideas from within!!! Here is a photo of the cover.

Here is the

Saga of the Steps

My front steps were the original from when the house was built around 1953.

We have only patched it a couple of times and it has held up for us... until 2 weeks ago!

Got a few loose bricks? Huh?

Herschel patched it up so we could at least use it until we had the right guys for the job.

Here is it bashed up and ready to be prepped

Below you can see how they used sand to place the pavers for the top landing.

See how they fill a fabric tube to squirt the mortar into the spaces?

Such a Cool method of filling those spaces!

Playing with my iPhone camera today I fooled around with this New application I found, look at the Cool things I can do!

I am still having fun with my iPhone apps!

This app ColorSplash is easy to use and makes a big impact to many photos. I enjoyed making Jack stay in color and leaving Herschel in Black and White.

On Sunday I brought my Balloon Car to The Antique Car Spring/Easter Parade in Garden City, NY

This was a posed photo with my Springtime Balloon Car, before we went to the Parade.

During the parade I was the eye-candy for the people driving and riding in the cars! As we all looked at them they gave me the thumbs up for my Balloon Car!

We are so proud of our son, who just returned from the first VF-Launch in History!

He is so Handsome in his Flight Suit!

OK, There is soil in with the seeds now and the waiting game starts!

I have been very busy this week editing Video and encoding the files, it can take hours!

I attended The Long Island Magic Arts Convention last weekend and made a short 45 minute film to remember the day for the organizers. They pulled it off and there were plenty that said it couldn't be done! They had to turn people away from the evening show for lack of space... they sold ALL the tickets they could and fit as many as the room would hold. (Fire code was upheld)!

It was a GREAT day and the add-on Master Classes well... Don (Buster Balloon) was a huge HIT!

If you missed it don't worry LIMAC will return next year!

Tis' the Season!

Held inside all winter this Fig Tree has taken root and is starting to grow new leaves.

See the seeds? I placed them inside the potato holder on a damp napkin?

Recycled it!

First it was a Baked Potato holder from Wendy's

Now a Seed Starter, with a cover & home to my Pepper plants!

This year like clock-work, I selected two special plants to be my Garden challenge.

First is a Fig tree twig I was given that I potted, as you can see it survived the Winter in my basement and has just been moved outside to get sunshine and rain to help it grow.

Second, a pack of Pepper seeds I am starting indoors and then will plant outside once sprouted!

I will post updates of them as they continue the growing process.

April Showers bring May Flowers!

These Paper Flowers were used as decoration for the Birthday Party celebration I was assigned to photograph at a Senior Center the other day. Music was being played, folks were singing and dancing, enjoying each others company. The Birthday girl was 100 years young and with friends and family around her the entire room sang Happy Birthday. She visited with friends and was sharp as a tack! After my work was done I noticed the hand-made flowers on the table, I reached for my iPhone camera and captured this image. The ladies at the table were amazed by my iPhone, asking all kinds of questions they then got the full tour... first I started with iMilk and then served them some popcorn via iMunchies (2 of my favorite apps). We talked about their grandkids computer skills and I answered some tech questions for them. I showed a few more apps, some photos, and a trip to the internet! Believe it or NOT???

Buster Balloon out did himself at his 4 hour Master Class. He showed us and taught us and shared his stories with us... there were lots of questions and answers that were worth their weight in GOLD! I have taken his classes for over 6 years now some more then once and I even walked away with at least 5 NEW things to shape and mold to fit my entertainment style! Oh, oh, oh I have been getting calls all day from friends that were at the convention they just couldn't stop raving about how they thought Buster was the Highlight of the Evening Show for them!!! These photos were from the Master Class after the Magic Convention ended and boy am I glad I didn't miss it!

Hey, Hey, Hey it's The Long Island Magic Arts Convention at Hofstra University... and Balloon Artist Don Caldwell "Buster Balloon" is going to be... in da' house! April 4th and 5th! Lucky also are the people that signed up for his private lecture on Sunday.

Look here in this photo Don got Great Placement! I went wild when I saw it with my morning coffee, I went to many of my friends in the building where I work and pointed him out. They all had a bit of laughter to start their day, and to think I get to see him in person tomorrow.

I am honored to know Don, a marvelous teacher, a sharing Artist, and one of The Top Twisters In the World!

I can not begin to tell you how much FUN this can be... I own a set of silks that John Holmes sells that has a Red Doggie on it and is very close to the Red Doggie in the app. I have shown the iPhone dog being twisted in the phone then it pops I make it appear on the silk from a empty hat, then vanish the silk and magically turn it into a Red 260 I twist it into a Doggie and everyone Claps!

I have also seen a twister make the crab that is included in the app... For $1.99 it is well worth it!

Thanks to Ralph Dewey we have been able to secure some of these rare Balloons.

I liked them!!!

I made a flower design that I have used to test other brands and sizes before. I was happy with the feel and the strength I was glad I had a tiny pump nozzle to fit on the tiny openings these balloons have. After wearing it on my day badge for over 10 days it survived very well. In the photo it was already 5 days old. Funny look close I have a pin tucked away under the red flashing light strip. It was so close but never touched the balloon.

This is made with a chocolate Kiss on a cookie the eyes & ears are made from Almond slivers the body & tail a cherry and stem. I lady where I work made these as a treat and shared them with us so I thought I would share them with you! Please...try this at home ; )

This Flag was hand-made by a Senior Citizen from Valley Stream , NY.

It hangs in the office where I work in Hempstead, NY.

It is interesting to see things made in ways never seen before. I wonder how long it took her to make it and how many she has made? I wonder about how funny it would be if her name is Betsy? Check back I will research it and give a Flag update!

How Creative is this? I found LOVE at the Grocery Store!

While I was in California for Twist & Shout the #1 Balloon Convention in the World I saw this display of Crush soda at the local store (never saw that at home) can you tell what time of year it was from the design?

Whenever I go out I see things that can be used to make me think How can this pertain to what I am doing in my life at the time I see it. You see I have many interests and I get a kick out of intertwining them together when the opportunity arises.

My Trip to Florida 3-09

How exciting, I got to fly on an airplane for the first time ever, and to see my Grandparents and cousin for the first time ever. They live in beautiful and sunny Boynton Beach, Florida USA. The flight was fun but a little cramped. Those Delta airplanes are kinda old and cramped, especially the overhead bin where I traveled. My feet touched my head and I had to remove my shoes to fit in my case. I guess it was much better than flying cargo! Met my Grandparents for the first time, boy are they old and could use some wrinkle cream. I think the sun has dried them all out. Anyway, my 3 year old cousin Sally, was very nice. We had a party and I talked to her for a long time, but she kinda talks baby-talk so I didn't understand everything she was saying, (maybe she was speaking Portuguese)?

I liked Grandpa's new pool and especially the alligator he keeps in it and it sure keeps the trespassers out! One day we took a ride to visit with some other Vent kids in Vero Beach but they were to old for me to play with, we all talked and ate some lunch, it was so fun!

The 4 days went by fast, so we had to go home in that cramped plane again. This time the T.S.A. agents didn't believe the X-ray machine, Dad had to open my case, all the other agents came over to say hello. Lucky for me they decided I wasn't a threat to National Security and let me fly home. By the way the lady behind me had a jar of Peanut Butter which WAS a threat so that Peanut Butter had to stay in Florida. I bet the T.S.A. had peanut butter sandwiches for lunch!

Special iPhone 3D photos Today!

How COOL is this? 3D from my iPhone camera with the use of this Application called StereoMaker, iPhone Apps - StereoMaker | Apptism

These pictures have lots of spots that show the 3D effect. You can cross your eyes and try to blend the 2 pics into 1 and then the 3D should pop into your sight. There are also special glasses available to help the viewing process.

The top image is a corner area in my Day job Office and the bottom is on the desk of my Home Office. If you need any help with the 3D effects email or comment here and I will try to help.
